Just because apple mobile device support is listed doesn't mean it's going to work. It was listed in my control panel but still wouldn't work. I ended up deleting everything apple...(heck, here.....my copy paste message for the others...)

tells you to uninstall iTunes and reinstall..restart computer bla bla bla. I said screw it and uninstalled all Apple programs (well, the listed ones above). I hooked up my nano to my computer to make sure the device manager recognized it without anything else plugged in...and it did. I unplugged it. Reinstall iTunes and all three other Apple programs listed above will also reinstall. I opened iTunes and plugged in my nano. It started with the "installing device driver software" and I was sure

it wasn't going to work. Well, it did work. My nano showed up in the upper right bar of iTunes and synced. Unreal... I unplugged my nano and plugged in the wife's. Once again, "installing device driver software." Voila! Her's showed up and synced too. I plugged mine back it to make sure it worked and it did. I'm done. It's working. Hope these steps work for you as well.

thank you. This morning I got a couple of updates for itunes which I said ok to. Next thing my nano was not recognised by itunes so I could not sync. Worked my way through all the apple support tips. Nothing except I could see that there was no Apple USD driver...so I after two hours I read your note and then uninstalled all apple programs.. Then downloaded itunes again for about the 4th times this morning..and yes my itunes is now speaking to the nano and I am syncd. At least I did not waste another two.

I have the same problem with apple mobile device. Everyones solution is to reinstall itunes. I have lots of folders and around 100 + playlists. **** I'm not going redo all that ! I'll buy an apple mac and carry it over to that computer. I don't really have the money to do it that way but somehow I'll do it. Windows just suck and apple devices just doesn't mix. I always have somekind of problems with windows/microsoft. I have a few ipods n iphone and probably get an ipad when they get to 512 gb, might as well go all out n get the ficking computer too. I just can't belive there's not a way of fixing the problem without taking away all the songs. Re putting all my folders and playlists will take fooooooooreveeeeeeer !! POS windows !!!
